The Douglas C-54 Skymaster was the first purpose-built aircraft for the President of the United States. The “Sacred Cow” is very unique because it contains an elevator to raise the President into the plane in his wheelchair. The name was bestowed on the plane by President Roosevelt, who flew in the aircraft only once before his death.
