On September 21, 2012, space shuttle Endeavour, mounted to the back of a giant 747, was carried to California on its final journey from space exploration to a museum in Los Angeles, the city where it was built. It is now on display in launch position in a specially designed building to commemorate the city's place in America's adventures into space.
